Account Tab

Use this tab to specify Oracle account names, account authentication values, and passwords for the Oracle account template.

The fields in this tab are listed below:

Account ID

* Required field

Specifies the name of the Oracle account. You can use a rule string to define the Oracle account name.

Restrictions:

• The name must be in all uppercase characters and start with an alphabetic character.
• An Oracle account cannot have the same name as an existing Oracle role.

Size: 30 characters maximum.

Authentication

* Required field

Specifies the authentication value of the account when this account template is used to create an account. Values can be:

• LOCAL specifies that the user is known only to Oracle.
• GLOBAL specifies that the user obtains access from the security domain central authority.
• EXTERNAL specifies that the user is identified by the Oracle system user name. That is, the user's name matches an ID for the Oracle system that the user is running on.

  For example, an Oracle system has the login name of BOB stored on it. The system that you are running on is a UNIX machine, which has a user name CAROL. On the Oracle system:

  • TED is defined to be a LOCAL user and his password is XYZ.
  • ROBERT is GLOBALLY defined and his external name is BOB.
  • CAROL is defined to be EXTERNAL.

    If a user logs into an Oracle system as TED, the user must enter TED's password. If a user tries to log in as ROBERT, the external authentication service performs actions for the user known to that service as BOB. If a user tries to login as CAROL, it fails unless the user who entered the command is CAROL also.

Global ID

Specifies the global ID that corresponds to the Oracle account.

Password

Specifies the password for the account if the LOCAL authentication value is chosen. The password can also be a rule string.

Confirm Password

Confirms the account password.

Restrictions: Single-byte characters only.

Expire Password

Specifies that any account created from this account template will be expired when first started. Users will have to reset the password the first time they use the password.

The Expire Password checkbox is available only when you use Local authentication.

Exception Account

Locked

When checked, specifies that the account is locked.

Exception Account

When checked, specifies that the account is an exception account.
